Guaranteed Income
At Xiente, we believe that every family deserves the freedom to dream, plan, and thrive—not just survive. Our Guaranteed Income program provides direct, no-strings-attached monthly cash support to families working toward economic mobility. Grounded in trust and backed by research, this approach affirms what families already know: they are the best decision-makers for their own lives.
Through this initiative, we are not only meeting urgent needs—we are transforming the systems that create economic hardship. Paired with financial coaching, housing support, and community connection, Guaranteed Income is a cornerstone of our work to build lasting pathways out of poverty.
What is Guaranteed Income?
Guaranteed Income (GI) is a monthly, unconditional cash transfer that provides individuals and families with consistent financial support they can count on. It’s not a loan, and it doesn’t require repayment. This approach is rooted in dignity and trust—recognizing that families know best how to meet their own needs.
Why Guaranteed Income Matters?
At Xiente, we understand that financial stability is foundational to long-term economic mobility. Families navigating poverty face unpredictable expenses, limited access to credit, and systemic barriers that keep them in a cycle of survival. Guaranteed Income provides the breathing room people need to invest in their future—whether it’s pursuing education, securing childcare, saving for emergencies, or transitioning to higher-paying work.
What Makes Xiente’s GI Program Unique?
Our Guaranteed Income initiative is part of the broader Prosperity Project, a comprehensive strategy to help 500 families transition from poverty to the middle class. As of May 2025, Xiente’s Guaranteed Income pilot program serves 10 families, with plans to expand to 20 in the coming months. We anchor this effort in a place-based strategy—rooted in the Norris Square neighborhood—offering affordable housing, economic counseling, and wraparound supports alongside GI.
Xiente is proud to collaborate with the Center for Guaranteed Income Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice. This partnership ensures our pilot is rigorously evaluated to understand how GI affects income stability, mental health, employment, and family well-being. The findings will inform future policy and serve as a model for equitable economic systems nationwide.
Early Impact
Preliminary insights from our pilot suggest that families are using GI to cover basic needs, pay off debt, pursue education, and reduce stress—results that align with national GI programs. As one participant shared:
They helped me with everything—credit, budgeting, finding affordable child care, and even getting into a master’s program.

This isn’t just about income—it’s about opportunity. By pairing direct cash with coaching, housing, and connection to social capital, we’re creating a holistic path to economic mobility that respects families’ autonomy while addressing systemic barriers.
